It is compulsory for all groupies to have travel insurance whilst traveling with Wanderlands Bali. Traveling is all about adventure and experiencing the unknown. Unfortunately, this can mean that some things don’t always go to plan from time to time. Whilst you are in the safe hands of your group leader from the moment you walk through arrivals to the end of the tour, planes can sometimes be delayed, luggage can go missing and accidents can happen. Your group leader will check your documents at the beginning of the tour to ensure you are correctly covered and you can travel with peace of mind. It is important your travel insurance covers you for the following:

  • Medical expenses
  • Missed flights
  • Luggage loss and theft
  • All activities included in the tour – snorkeling, surfing etc

If you haven’t got your insurance arranged yet, simply get in touch with us and we can help you arrange it. Call: (+61) 2 8541 6557 Email:

Firstly, pack light!

You will be doing a lot of moving around during the trip, getting on various modes of transport such as mini-vans, boats and even horse and cart. You do not wanting to be carrying around more than you need! We highly recommend a backpack rather than a massive suitcase as you will be the one having to carry it.

Bali has lots of western shops so if you forget anything, fear not! You can normally buy anything else you may need.

Packing checklist:

  • Passport
  • Flight tickets
  • Credit cards and money
  • US $35 (for your visa)
  • Padlock for your bag
  • Printed out copy of your travel insurance documents
  • Camera & charger
  • MP3 player/iPod
  • Phone & charger
  • International plug adapter
  • Beach wear and towel
  • A light rain jacket
  • Clean underwear

Where can I stay if I arrive before the start date?

We are happy to book your pre nights accommodation at our hotel in Kuta. It is roughly 500.000rp-550,000rp (AU$50-AU$55) and this will be paid locally once you check in.

Where can I purchase insurance?

Travel is all about adventure and the unknown, but that doesn’t mean you should be too risky. It is imperative that all Wanderlands Groupies are covered by travel insurance and because we have been doing this for a while, and know exactly the type of cover you will need, we recommend booking yours through World Nomads.

What are the room allocations?

Twin or double rooms. Depending when and where we are staying. If you require certain sleeping arrangements, please do let us know so that we can accommodate you correctly.

Is there Wi-Fi available in our hotels?

Most of hotels and cafes that we stay in or visit along our tour have access to good, strong Wi-Fi. Although, there may be certain areas where Wi-Fi is slow or non existent! Try to remember that some times it’s good to disconnect for a bit, so if you do find yourself without access try and make the most of it.

What kind of accommodation do we stay in?

We stay in hotels, they all have air conditioning, swimming pools and are clean, comfortable and tidy.

Do I need a visa to enter the country?

If you have any issues and queries about Visas, we do recommend checking the embassy website, and using the information provided on our website.

Are flights included in the price?

No, unfortunately not, however we are happy to help you with advice on what flight you should get.

When is the earliest I can fly after the tour?

Bare in mind that we finish our tour on Gili Trawangan and the nearest airport is back on the mainland of Bali. Flights departing from Denpasar shouldn’t be booked before 6pm on Day 8 as any flights departing earlier may result in you missing out on some activities and no one wants that!

Where does the tour finish?

Gili T.

Where does the tour start?

What meals are included?

Breakfasts only.

Is airport pick up included?

Yes, airport pick up can be arranged free of charge for those arriving on the start date or 1 day before. If you have pre nights accommodation at the hotel we use in Kuta and would like to be picked up more than 1 day before your start date, we can organize our driver to pick you up from the airport and drop you off at the hotel. This will need to be paid locally to our driver and will be 100.000rp – 150.00rp – roughly AU$10-AU$15.

How do I get back to the airport?

You can catch a ferry back from Gili Trawangan, the first ferry leaves at 11am and your ticket also includes a shuttle bus to the airport once you get off the boat. Don’t worry though, your Wanderlands Bali Group Leader can help you book this.

How much spending money do I need for my 8 days?

We can never give you an exact spending money figure as everybody spends differently! All your accommodation, activities and transport (minus the ferry and shuttle back to the airport on last day) during your 8 days with Wanderlands Bali is paid for so you will just need money for food, drinks and some shopping. Meals are roughly 50,000rp- 100,000rp, drinks are roughly 20,000rp-50,000rp and your transport back to the airport after the tour will be roughly 300.000rp -500.000rp.

Numbers of groups (age limit and size)

The size of our groups vary, but on average they range from around 12 – 20 people and have an array of ages from between 18-30+. Our tour encourages solo travellers as well as groups and couples so there is a mix of solo travellers, groups and couples on our tour.
